✈️ AeroConnect Daily · The 3-minute briefing for aviation professionals in Europe.
Good morning — here's what you need to know today.

ATC staffing is still Europe’s weak point

EUROCONTROL says ATC capacity and staffing remain the main source of en-route delays across Europe, especially in Spain, France and Greece as summer traffic ramps up.
Week 17 saw around 22,000 daily delay minutes, with staffing responsible for 59% of en-route ATFM delays.
So what? If you fly charter, ferry or ad-hoc missions this summer, expect tighter slot management and less recovery margin on multi-leg days — especially in Southern Europe. Build more operational buffer now, not in July.

EASA is preparing new guidance on fuel tankering

European operators are facing increasing uncertainty around Jet-A and Jet-A1 supply consistency after recent shortages across parts of Europe.
EASA is now working on guidance covering fuel mixing and operational procedures.
So what? Operators running lean fuel strategies or frequent repositioning flights may need to rethink tankering habits this season. Fuel planning is quietly becoming an operational risk again — not just a cost issue.

Business aviation still wants experienced pilots — but not every pilot fits

A growing number of operators say Europe’s business aviation market requires more than just flight hours and type ratings.
Flexibility, client-facing communication and operational adaptability are becoming major hiring filters.
So what? For freelance pilots trying to enter Part-NCC or charter operations, soft skills are increasingly part of the selection process — especially for small operators and owner-flown environments.

💡 INSIGHT

Europe’s pilot shortage story is evolving. Airlines still need crews, but business aviation operators are becoming far more selective about operational mindset and customer interaction. The “good hands, low ego” pilot profile is gaining value fast.
